How to Get Out of Bad ERP Selection?

I wanted to share this question posted on the IT Toolbox website because unfortunately, it is a dark hole that so many people fall into. Selecting ERP software is not easy and making a mistake is highly likely. Unless of course, you do an extensive analysis of your requirements beforehand and know exactly what you require in a system as well as what you don't.

This unfortunate fellow obviously did not have a consultant perform that in-depth analysis before contracting someone to implement the system. I am sure that this message would not have been posted had 'Guess12' had a Confidence Boost from Plus.

Subject: How to Get Out from Bad ERP Selection?

I had a bad selection of ERP and I want to get out from it.

I had make the full payment of the licenses cost since start the project.

After 2 months, the consultant come out the long GAP list and the customise cost will add-up the total project cost of 50% and this is a minimum estimate cost.

Question:
a. Do I able to ask for refund from the licenses cost, if we want to terminate it?
Current we only received a temporary licenses which valid for 6 months.
Contract term is unfundable after payment had make.
Possible to get the refund in full/partial?

b. Should we look for another ERP solution or continue with it?
Currently we had done the Installation, Training and BRS.

Thank you.
