Getting to BAASS Connect Vancouver 2019

In preparation for this year’s BAASS Connect Vancouver, we have created a mini-guide to make your attendance to the event easier. We have compiled some nearby accommodations, restaurants, and recreational activities. Regardless of whether you are a local or coming from out of town, we hope you enjoy our suggestions and have a positive experience from BAASS Connect 2019.

Some Special Apps:

Before getting started, here are a few apps that can make your commute to this year’s BAASS Connect easier:

1. Google Maps: This app is ideal for giving you the right directions to your destination, regardless of the method of commuting (walking, public transit, car). This app also has the option to check out traffic along your planned route.
2. Waze: This is a go-to traffic app for many. From this app, you can plan ahead and see which roads are congested, so that you’re not late!
3. Vancouver Local Transit:  Feel free to hop onto their websites and see if there are options to plan your route. These features often give you multiple routes to get to your destination, the bus/subway number needed, the time needed to get to the destination (including pick-up and drop-off times), as well as the total cost.

Recreation

Westminster Quay 

The Westminster Quay is coincidentally where BAASS Connect Vancouver is located. This boardwalk allows you to take in British Columbia’s Fraser River. The Westminster Quay gives you access to the Westminster Pier Park, Fraser River Discovery Centre, and more. Additionally, the venue is located right at the Quay. 

River Market - 810 Quayside Drive, New Westminster, BC V3MN 6B9 

Accessible from the Westminster Quay boardwalk is the River Market. There are numerous events that occur here throughout the year. You will find a range of local shops and restaurants, along with places to learn various crafts. Being right along the boardwalk gives it a great view over the Fraser river too. 

Metropolis at Metrotown - 4700 Kingsway, Burnaby, BC V5H 4N2

A 16-minute drive will take you to Canada’s third-largest enclosed mall. Metropolis houses a remarkable 345 stores- a combination of places to shop and eat. If you’re visiting from outside of Metro Vancouver, providing a photo ID that shows this will allow you to have their VIP Visitor Shopping Experience Package; this includes a reusable shopping tote, as well as a VIP Visitor Metrocard that gives you discounts of anywhere between 5%-30% at participating retailers. 

Granville Island

Towards the core of Vancouver is Granville Island. Although a 37-minute drive from the venue, this spot can provide you with a full day’s worth of things to do and try. Granville Island is home to a variety of shops, restaurants, activities, and a large market. This lively spot is a popular place for many tourists. You can take a ride on some bicycles or explore by taking a boat around. You can walk out to the picturesque water spot, to view a line of boats by the many buildings on the other side of the water body.
